Amazon.com has just launched Amazon MP3, its music store. Unlike iTunes, all of the music it sells is free of DRM nonsense — meaning that all of the crap I have to do with iTunes to assure that my music can play on multiple devices will no longer be a problem. It’s also all in MP3 format (albeit high-sampling and thus fairly large in file size), so there are no compatibility issues.
Unlike many of its competitors, the Amazon store is actually well-organized and it’s easy to purchase albums. This looks like it will be my first choice of music stores going forward.
