Life 2.0

It was odd enough when the band o’ reporters I recently played in got YouTubed in a hurry. It was stranger still today when I got e-mail, quickly went to the appropriate website — and there saw my sister sitting at the oyster bar at the Hog’s Breath Cantina in Key West, having boat drinks. Me, I was working.

I’ve been putting more thought lately into these Web 2.0 developments. I finally got around to creating Myspace and Facebook pages (I get invitation spam every single day from Myspace); I’ve got bookmarks saved over at del.icio.us and I occasionally Digg things, and I realize that things are getting crazy again on the web front. It’s starting to feel like 1996 all over again — the good, creative 1996, not the 1996 that led to 2000 that led to the dot-bomb crash. And I look forward to the next reinvention of the way things work online.
