If people wonder why I’ve gone on and on about Cayamo, the floating-music-festival-that-really-isn’t-like-a-cruise-at-all, it’s because of moments like this that occurred Saturday:
At the heart of this is an inside joke. About a third of the passengers on this cruise actually play instruments themselves and many like to play in late-night jams at bars and so on. A couple of years ago, this song got played so often by jammers that it became a sort of running joke. So this time, a bunch of the jammers, joined by the staff of the company that runs the festival (they’re wearing bathrobes that are in the video), closed out an entire week of music with this little session.
Information about next year’s Cayamo should come out in March or April. It sells out during the ‘pre-sale’ period every year, so you’ll have to sign up in advance to get notice and you’ll have to plunk a down payment down in May if you’re interested. Barring the kind of work conflict that caused me to miss this year’s festival, I’ll be there in 2014.
