NPR is going away

Not the network — the building. All of us are moving to a new headquarters about six blocks away. A wrecking ball is going to finish off the old headquarters as soon as our butts are out of it. This has led to a certain amount of creative defacement — Nina Totenberg was busy tagging a hallway wall today — as one-fourth of the staff moves out every week.

Whole sections of the building now are abandoned. To wit:

Meanwhile, some developments are inexplicable. A coworker drew a giant mural of Sponge Bob Squarepants on the managing editor’s door yesterday. And then there’s this:
